We’ve probably heard many Christian friends say something like this “I do this for Gods glory”.
Though that is a really good statement, and I believe that glorifying God is Gods will, if you don’t encounter, experience and believe the glory of God for yourself, all that is just lip service.
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, (Romans 4:20 NIV)
Faith gives glory to God. Now guess what unbelief does? My friend unbelief is the most dangerous of all sin. Unbelief is denying yourself the very nature God has intended you to have. Unbelief can cost you your eternal destiny.
Faith is the starting point of glorifying God because it gives you access to the glory of God. The glory of God saves you (the cross), changes you (sanctification) and makes you joyfully obey the destiny God has set for you (Holy Spirit power).
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV)
So when you say you want to glorify God, the very means of you doing that does not come from your own strength, efforts, and will, but it streams from God Himself.
Faith leads you to glorifying the Source of all glory.
