The Greatest Mismatch

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 NIV)

There are no grey areas. No in betweens. It’s either you’re a Man or a Woman, it’s ether it’s black or white, cold or hot, and in this case it’s either you serve God or you serve someone else.

And let me say a little something about that someone. You could probably say its, your money, it’s your wife or your child, your career. I think it’s not all those. Notice the similarity of all the stuff mentioned above (your). You really are worshiping yourself. That is if all these things seem to be of first importance to you.

Now, compare yourself to a God who is so great that He has the ability to be transcendent (above and beyond) and immanent (dwelling in us) at the same time, a God who has the humility to come down from his throne and die for humanity and prove His death effective to obliterate sin to those who put their faith in Him, a God who is able to raise the dead, heal the sick, change the heart of millions from ages past up to today, a God who can richly provide all you need according to His glorious riches…

You can be your own god, but comparing what you can do versus what I’ve mentioned (there’s even more to that), would you really want to?

As for me and my household, we will serve the One true God.
